Studies

She studied Law and Political Sciences in the Law and Political Sciences Faculty of the University of Panama, where she graduated as an attorney in the year 2009.  She studied a Master’s Degree in Procedural Law at the University of Panama (Year 2001).  Also, she has done studies in the area of conflicts resolution and negotiation through a Special Postgraduate Course on Mediation (year 2015), Special Postgraduate Course on Arbitration (year 2013) and Specialization on Alternative Methods for Conflicts Resolution (Year 2016), promoted by the Specialized Institute on Negotiation, Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration – ICMAR of the University of Panama.

Furthermore, she holds a Diploma on the Accusatory Penal System of the Law and Political Sciences Faculty of Universidad Latina (Year 2009); Enabling Course of the Accusatory Penal System; coordinated by the Accusatory Penal System Office of the Judicial Organ – OISPA and the National Bar Association of Panama (Year 2016); and a Postgraduate Diploma on Accusatory Penal System of the Universidad Especializada de Las Americas- UDELAS (Year 2016-2017).

Experience

She works since the year 1999 until presently with the Firm Mejia & Asociados, initially in the company’s administration area and then, in the legal area taking care of all procedures in general, in all judicial instances, and thorough follow-up of penal, administrative, civil procedures in several judicial and state agencies.

Currently, she is responsible of several legal businesses of the Firm Mejia & Asociados as support for lawyers in the civil and penal areas; control of terms and deadlines in revised processes, participating in judicial processes (including hearings), composition of appeal actions, oppositions, accusations, complaints, among others, and preparing reports, etc.

In addition, she worked at the Judicial Organ as Principal Officer II at the Eighth and Ninth Circuit Courts, criminal Branch, valuable experience for her practice and development at the Mejia & Asociados firm.

Comprehensive proficiency in the English language and French (intermediate level; spoken and written).

Member of the National Bar Association of Panama.
